Edwards AFB Air Show

After a long day of working the Edwards AFB Air Show we went to H.'s house to relax and get some rest. After all, we left at 0400 that morning and had to leave her house by 0430 the next day. The event was super fun. We worked the Union City Road Roasters booth, put up by Col. Dan Goddard, Ret. who was just wonderful. We had almost total squadron participation between the 2 day event and we earned $1400! And, we got to be at the airshow!! It was such a great event, we came together as a team, we worked hard, and we made a good impression. The Col. has already asked us back for next year!! And, the air show was amazing. They had everything! I got to see the F-117, the FA-22, the B-2, the B-52, and more. So so so cool. They even did a reneactment of Pearl Harbor! What a great, but exhausting weekend.

LLAB

I got recognized at LLAB for helping with the Air Force Association booth at the Manhattan Beach Fair. It was pretty cool because I ran into my friend Golden who I met at Freefall

Get this party started

We celebrated the official start of basketball season at Gersten Pavilion at Madness at Midnight.

Sheer Madness

The Pep Band played at Madness at Midnight on 14 October in Gersten Pavillion. It was just as the name suggests, crazy!

Blackmail? No, just studying...

Ah, preparation for class on Friday--studying for the midterm. Eek

Lip Sync Shoot

We shot Lip Sync 2005 for the Roar Network. It was so much fun despite only having 3 days to prepare. They just finished editing it and we will be airing it starting monday on ch.6 at 10pm and 12am every night. We are also working on selling DVD's. The master is being finished right now and copies will begin being made in next week while we take pre-orders. I hope this goes over well. If you're interested in buying a DVD email lipsyncdvd@gmail.com

What does love mean?

So my grandma sent me this in an email. It's adorable. Funny thing I should mention: I asked this to everyone at work and not one person came up with an answer. It makes you think about how jaded adulthood makes us and how children are able to look at the world so differently. Perhaps we should all try to see the world as we did when we were children.

Slow down for three minutes to read this.
Touching words from the mouth of babes.
What does Love mean?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.

So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."

Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.

You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."

Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."

Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."

Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."

Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."

Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.
My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss"

Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."

Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"

Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."

Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."

Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.

He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."

Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody

You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."

Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."

Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."

Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."

Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."

Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." (what an image)

Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."

Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."

Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

"Nothing, I just helped him cry"

I love this song so much:

Somebody to Love by Queen

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Each morning I get up I die a little/ Can't barely stand on my feet
Take a look at myself in the mirror and cry/ Lord, what you're doin' to me.
I spent all my years in believing you/ but I just can't get no relief, Lord.
Somebody, somebody,

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I work hard/ everday of my life/
I work till I ache in my bones/
At the end of the day/ I take home my hard-earned pay/
all on my own

I get down on my knees and I start to pray/
till the tears run down from my eyes/ ooh
Someday I'm gonna be free Lord
Somebody/ somebody.

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Everyday/ I try and I try and I try/
But everybody wants to put me down/
They say I'm going crazy/ they say I got a lotta water in my brain
I got no common sense/ I got nobody left to believe

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Ooh somebody/ somebody/
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I got no feel/ I got no rhythm/
I just keep losin' my beat/
I'm okay, I'm alright/ I ain't gonna face no defeat

I just gotta get outta this prison cell/
Some day I'm gonna be free, Lord

Find me somebody to love
Find me somebody to love
Find me sombody to love
Find me somebody to love (repeat)

Somebody/ somebody
Somebody/ somebody

Find me somebody to love

Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Dinner with AAS, SW and the Candidates at Jerry's Famous Deli

I was so happy to finally get to go to Jerry's. While there were some complaints about prices, it really is perfect for us. They are open 24 hours and can def. accomodate large groups of people. Plus, they have everything you can imagine on the menu. Needless to say, dinner was pretty great. The week before that we went to IHOP. That was pretty great too, they gave us the whole back room. Sweet!

We took the Physical Fitness Test on LLAB #4. I got a 97.5 out of 100. That's pretty sweet, although I'm hoping to be able to max the next one.

The first Arnie service project was a huge success and a whole lotta fun. Hoorah Treasure Hunt and Recycling!

Happy Birthday to Chelsea!

I of course had to get her some accessories too, if you catch my drift
