The tour of St. Bernard's Parish, The 9th Ward, and the Lower 9th Ward

On Thursday morning, Anne met us at the Inn with a little bus to take us out to the area hit hardest by the hurricane and unfortunately the area also receiving the least amount of help. It was incredible. Kelly was amazed at how much better it looked. But, if this is better, I can't imagine what it must have looked like 6 months ago, or even a year ago!!

This is Anne in the bus

Nicole on the way

Here is the front of the Christopher Homes building in St. Bernard's Parish that was much like the one we were working on although, it had received the brunt of the damage.

some of the pictures are blurry because we were driving...

Amid all the devastation, this statue and this building remained mostly intact. We like the symbolism of that.

Anne had to stop on the way back to buy some fresh cauliflower for her mother. It was so cute.

Lauren and Chris were sleepy

I really liked the framing of this picture. I think it's very enigmatic and fitting.

Mackenzie actually hated the smell of the cauliflower

Sorry this one is blurry. I like the colours of the house. I thought they said a lot about the people.

Sean took this one at the Christopher homes site in St. Bernard's Parish. I think it is a great photograph.

It's so hard to believe that this is real. I can't imagine what it must have been like to have been there through this.

Sean took this one as well. The rust shows how high the water got.

Another of Sean's shots

The inside of these rooms was absolutely unbelievable.

You see how the furniture from every room seems to be mixed together? That is how powerful the water was.

The rust goes all the way to the top of this swing set. Can you imagine your whole neighborhood engulfed by water?

This is the memorial that was constructed
