Glenn revels at his fine couch tossing.

Michael takes a water break.

Proof of the might winds that roared through

A shot of the top! It was crazy throwing things from that high up. But, it sure was exhilarating!

Lauren smiling for the camera

Joey doing fabulously as PA

Just one of the full dumpsters

I snapped this shot of Kelly in a reflective pose. I thought this one was really symbolic.

Nicole's fun find. This is def. New Orleans!

Logan and Eastan really enjoyed launching things off the balcony!

James and Kelly wait to toss something over.

Reveling at the last drop.

Logan, James, and Eastan pause after a hard room.

Some of the results of the drops.

Nicole and Eastan admire one of the treasures they found in a room.

Just some of the many trash bags we used...

James and Nicole admire one of their drops.

This is a shot of the entryway that was boarded up and marked with a sign that said "been evucated"--note the misspelling.

Kelly found a calendar from the day they evacuated. The whole building was eerie in that way, because it was as if time had just stopped.

These were the wonderful people we worked with! From right to left: Anne, Dennis, and Brian.
Day 2 the project actually began. We worked with Christopher Homes--an element of the archdiocese of New Orleans. We worked with Anne and Brian from Nazareth Inn, a subsidized apartment complex for the elderly. This was an interesting and challenging project for us because we were helping by destroying. It was such a strange paradox for us. We had come to New Orleans expecting to see the worst of the worse and thought we would be gutting houses as Kelly had done 6 months earlier. However, a year after the storm, the emphasis was on rebuilding and getting people back to their homes. As a result, we focused on places that were salvageable. The Inn was one of the Christopher Homes that did not really have any flood damage so some of the rooms were in remarkably good condition for just sitting there for a year.
