Day 4--part I

Day 4 was very different for us because we awoke to heavy rains outside. These rains had not only flooded the roads that lead to the Inn preventing us from going to our worksite, they had flooded the whole first floor of Mater Dolorosa. So, instead of cleaning out apartments as we had planned, we spent the whole morning and a large part of the afternoon diverting water, fixing the outside drainage, and getting the water out of the building. It was definitely a GLP if I ever saw one. We had limited tools and a huge problem. But, we figured out good ways to get the water out. I am so glad that we were there to help them with this because they would have been in some real trouble if they hadn't had any help.

Here's Chris with some mops. That's all we had to work with initially, so it was a real challenge to think of creative ways to get the water out. But, we did it.

Here's the beginning of the problem. Little did we know that the water had flooded the whole wing of the building that that hallway led to.

Kelly was shocked at how much rain was coming down outside.

Poor Kelly, soaked top to bottom. She was freezing.

We tried to pick up the water with the wetvac but it only worked two times before it went kaput.

Apparently, rain makes you crazy, ha ha.
